Drawing and Sketching

If I had to choose one thing to have besides food and water on a deserted island it would be my sketch bag—packed with sketchbooks and drawing supplies. I love sketching. It calms me down and picks me up! It allows me to slow down and really look, it helps me think and ideate. It records my very existence. I love creating the page and then developing my drawings into future projects.

I have a number of books going at once—large and small—various weight papers—some bought, some hand bound. Different moods and situations... I use ink and water color mostly but pastels, colored pencils and even mud will appear—some pages record a place or time—how I feel about it, shapes and textures that catch my eye—some are about working out a design problem—some are just for fun and get things going.

I often blog about my sketching and how it effects my work.
