The above image shows lichen (also a dye plant) growing on a foundation stone at the original location of John and Priscilla Alden’s home in 1628, in Duxbury, MA. The location is on the grounds of a local high school and one has to walk across the soccer field to reach it. This image was added 15 August 2009.

I am going to be changing the header images from time to time and after several years, my first change is to show one of the most anticipated events in my garden. The first tomatoes of the season. This image was added 10 August 2009.

My original header image represented my backyard garden. At the time I had a sample dye plant garden as I did fiber work and enjoyed plants which dyed fiber. The blossom in the header is a Blood Root flower which blooms in the early spring. This original image was dated 3 May 2005
