Nothing was happening in Philadelphia\u2014clients are all \u201cdown the shore\u201d so we figured we should grab a little vacation while we could. Spent Sat looking for places on the web and drove up Sunday.<br \/>\nStayed at several b&amp;b\u2019s: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doublereedshop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Old Homestead<\/a> in Barnet, VT, where Gail Warnaar combines a B&amp;B with <em>The Double Reed Shop<\/em> \u2014\u201ca complete, one-stop resource for double reed musicians\u201d;  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lakesaleminn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lake Salem Inn<\/a> in Derby VT run by Joe and Mo Profera, who it turns out fled the good life in Philadelphia for the north woods; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.summitlodgevermont.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Summit Lodge<\/a> in Killington\u2014don&#8217;t go there unless you like very large dogs.<\/p>\n<p>We saw <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gpdesigns.com\/puppets\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bread and Puppets<\/a>, hiked a bit, had a picnic, shopped a bit, saw museums and visited book stores\u2014VT has some very nice books stores\u2014took pictures, sketched some, ate in nice restaurants\u2014and one not so nice! and then home on Thurs\u2014short and sweet but nice to get away.<\/p>\n<p>The only thing gardeny we did was not to garden!\u2014and the weeds had a terrific growth spell\u2014It was hot and humid and they were very happy!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week we went to Vermont.
