Awhile back I planned to upload images on a regular basis but that didn’t happen—so—I’m trying again!

Time

I recently had an operation—it was a big thing and it wasn’t a big thing. Thanks to laparoscopic surgery I’m up and about quickly and all seems well. I had had to decide whether to have the operation or not and it turns out that if I hadn’t I would shortly have needed emergency surgery. The whole thing has had me thinking about time—how one spends it—how it seems to pass more and more quickly—and how easy it is to waste it. And how easy it is to intend to post pictures regularly and then time slips away!

AVL loom – sold

June 7th, 2007

I sold my loom! – To a weaver from NJ who belongs to the same Guild I did where it all started. The circle is complete!

That’s a great price for someone who wants one and I don’t weave anymore and want the space. If interested, comment here.
I have remove comments from this site due to the amount of spam it generates. If you are interested in this loom I can be reached at beth@emmott.com.

Wetlands

May 30th, 2007

This spring a friend and client, Jeanne Ruddy whose dance trope, Ruddy Dance is located in Philadelphia, choreographed a work called Oceans 1:Wetlands dealing with environmental problems facing the NJ Wetlands.

Jeanne’s passion is contagious and as a result I gave my Philadelphia University Graphic and Digital Design sophomores a project to design an advocacy poster on the topic. Most of my students had never heard of wetlands or at least had not been too concerned. Much research, and lots of design exploration was required—and at the end of the semester time was short. The results were exciting and several are below.
